Ten Sikh Gurus



Guru Nanak Dev
    Guru Nanak Dev was the first of ten Sikh gurus and the founder of Sikhism religion. Born on April 14, 1469 at Rai-Bhoi-di Talwandi in the present district of Shekhupura Pakistan (now Nanakana Sahib), Guru Nanak Dev, AOS birth anniversary is celebrated as Guru Nanak Jayanti in the month the month of Kartik. Since childhood, he revolted against ritualism, caste, prejudices, hypocrisy and idolatry. He traveled throughout India and made four great journeys. Although he visited Mecca and Baghdad in Arabia and Persia. He regarded Hindus and Muslims as equals.

    Guru Angad Dev
      Guru Angad Dev was born in the village as Lehna Sarae Mukhtar Naga districts of Punjab on March 31, 1504. He was selected by Guru Nanak Dev as his successor and given the name Angad, Guru Angad becomes so Dev. He, therefore, became the second guru of the Sikhs. Guru Angad Dev It introduced the Gurmukhi script (written form of Punjabi) and made it popular among all the Sikhs. Although the Guru Granth Sahib is written in Gurmukhi. The Guru Angad Dev Gurpurab is celebrated on the 18th of April.
      Guru Amar Das
        Guru Amar Das was the third of ten gurus of Sikhism. He was born in a village called Basarke Gillan in Amritsar on May 5, 1479. He became the Sikh Guru at the age of 73, thus following in the footsteps of his teacher, Guru Angad Dev, who died at 48 years old. He fought against the restrictions, caste prejudices and the curse of untouchability. Although he introduced the Anand Karaj marriage ceremony was followed by Sikhs, thereby replacing the Hindu form.
        Guru Ram Das
          Guru Ram Das Guru Amar Das was, AOS daughter, Bibi Bhani, AOS wife. He was born as Bhai Jetha on October 9, 1534 Chuna Mandi in Lahore. Each year, this day is celebrated as the anniversary of his birth. The city of Amritsar was founded by Guru Ram Das. He even started the construction of the famous Golden Temple at Amritsar. She gave Laava, a four-song verses read during the traditional Sikh wedding ceremony.
          Guru Arjan Dev
            Guru Arjan Dev was the youngest son of Guru Ram Das and the fifth Sikh Guru. He was born on April 15, 1563 at Goindval Sahib. His birth anniversary is celebrated on May 2nd. He became a guru on September 1, 1581. He completed the development of the Golden Temple and compiled the Adi Granth, the scripture of the Sikhs. Although the relationship between the Guru Arjan Dev and Mughal Emperor Akbar's sincere, things changed at Jahangir took over the throne. He was arrested by Jahangir and tortured to death for the grace Jahangir, AOS rebel son, Prince Khusrau Mirza.
            Guru Har Gobind
              Guru Har Gobind was the sixth guru in Sikhism. Guru Arjan Dev child, Har Gobind was born in the village of Guru Ki Wadali on June 19, 1595. He was only 11 years old when his father was executed. The birth anniversary of Guru Har Gobind was known to the 5th of July. He was a soldier saint and a deadly enemy of Mughals from the beginning. He was the first of the gurus who took up arms to defend the faith. He built Akal Takht, the throne of God, at the age of 13. He placed two swords, Miri and PIRI, representing temporal and spiritual power.
              Guru Har Rai
                Guru Har Rai was the grandson of Guru Har Gobind and the seventh of the Sikh gurus. He was born February 26, 1630 and became a guru on March 8, 1644 at the tender age of 14. The majority of the life of Guru Har Rai was spent in devotional meditation and preaching the teachings of Guru Nanak. He continued to boost the military spirit of the Sikhs and avoid any conflict with the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.

                Guru Har Krishan
                  Before his death, Guru Har Rai appointed his five year old son, Har Krishan as next Sikh Guru. Guru Har Krishan was born on July 7, 1664 at Kiratpur Sahib in Rupnagar in Punjab and became the eighth of ten Sikh gurus. He was the youngest of all the Sikh gurus. He was blessed with extraordinary knowledge and spiritual power. He is a symbol of service, purity and truth of the Sikhs. He served his life to healing the epidemic-stricken people in Delhi. He died at the age of eight after getting infected with smallpox.
                  Guru Tegh Bahadur
                    Guru Tegh Bahadur was the grand uncle of Guru Har Krishan and youngest of five sons of Guru Har Gobind. He was born on April 1, 1621 at Amritsar. The city of Anandpur was founded by him. He became the ninth guru of Sikhism community. Strictly He defended against the Hindu religious right. Therefore, he had to face the pain of rejection to accept Islam when offered by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. He was put in chains and tortured. Thereafter, he was publicly beheaded in Chandni Chowk in Delhi.
                    Guru Gobind singh
                      The tenth and last guru of Sikhism was Guru Gobind Singh, son of Guru Tegh Bahadur. Born as Gobind Rai Sodhi in Patna, Bihar on December 22, 1666, Gobind Singh became a guru th November 11, 1675 at the age of 9. He founded the Khalsa, the pure before, in 1699. Guru Gobind Singh gave the name Singh (lion) and Kaur (princess) to the Sikhs. He fought several battles with the Mughals and their alliances. On 3rd October, 1708, he appointed holy Guru Granth Sahib as the next permanent Sikh Guru.
